Taking part in the 14th edition of São Paulo Design Week (DW! 2025), Ornare hosted events at its São Paulo showrooms. Under the theme “Creativity in Motion: Art, Fashion, and Design,” the discussions explored the intersections between different creative expressions and the future of design.
Art All Around Vernissage

To celebrate the opening of DW!, the D&D Mall showroom hosted an exclusive cocktail event to inaugurate the “Art All Around” project. Curated by Marina Conde, the initiative transformed the space into a dynamic gallery, featuring a special exhibit from Galeria Carbono with works by renowned artists—offering visitors a full immersion into the world of art and design.

Sustainability in Art with Lara Matana
In a talk led by Art Advisor Flávia Waiswol, visual artist Lara Matana explored the poetics of formal abstraction, revealing the creative potential of wood as an essential raw material. She shared insights into her creative process, which focuses on reconstruction and reinterpretation of materials with the goal of raising environmental awareness. Her works, currently on display at Ornare’s flagship store in São Paulo, are part of the second edition of the “Art All Around” project. The artist has also been producing pieces for Milan using Ornare’s materials, allowing her to incorporate other reusable elements beyond wood.

Lighting in Design with Jayme Liande
In a talk hosted by journalist Lúcia Gurovitz, Jayme Liande, CEO of We Light, highlighted the vital role of lighting in interior design. Presenting innovative solutions, he demonstrated how well-executed lighting strategies can transform environments, enhancing efficiency, comfort, and visual wellness. His approach played a key role in the lighting design of Ornare’s flagship stores in São Paulo, as well as the Milan showroom, which was recognized with the LIT Lighting Design Awards.

Hotel Unique Retrofit with João Armentano and Wellington Melo
In a discussion led by DW! founder Lauro Andrade, architect João Armentano and Hotel Unique’s general director Wellington Melo shared insights on the retrofit process of the iconic hotel designed by Ruy Ohtake. They detailed how the project balanced preserving the original identity with the addition of contemporary elements. The conversation covered every stage, from early dialogues with Ruy to the design choices that maintained the hotel’s personality—such as its iconic curved walls and the minimalist philosophy behind its preservation.

In a thought-provoking talk moderated by Mônica Pereira, founder of the Códigos Futuro project, Ana Paula Zappia—Head of Stores and Properties at Dolce & Gabbana—shared her insights on the strategic impact of visual merchandising in the luxury sector. She emphasized how curated displays and careful product presentation influence brand perception, spark consumer desire, and reinforce the values and exclusivity of high-end brands. Her approach focuses on creating immersive, emotionally resonant environments.

Creativity and Social Impact
Another discussion led by Mônica Pereira explored creativity as a powerful tool for driving social transformation and encouraging sustainable practices. Juliana Leite, VP of Special Projects and Creative Content at África Creative, highlighted creativity’s potential to generate innovative solutions for social challenges.
Caroline Martins, president of the Aproxima Program—partnered with Ornare—presented the initiative aimed at increasing representation in architecture by offering opportunities to Black, mixed-race, and Indigenous students. Giuliane Roberta, marketing executive at Grupo Minuano, spoke about how sustainability can be tied to social impact through their leather tannery practices.
