Trends: Biophilic Design

Projects that bring nature into indoor spaces in harmony with comfort. Architects incorporate this concept into spaces that promote well-being and visual balance between the built environment and nature.

Biophilic design highlights the presence of natural elements, such as lush vegetation and indoor gardens, combined with the use of noble materials like wood and stone. Natural light, made possible through large windows, skylights, and glass façades, along with cross ventilation, enhances healthier spaces. Views of natural landscapes, fluid spaces integrating indoors and outdoors, organic textures, and a color palette inspired by nature elevate this approach.

With the growing appreciation for this concept, we highlight projects that embody the fusion of architecture and nature, showcasing the relationship between urban spaces and natural elements. The integration of Ornare furniture enhances sophistication and well-being, offering solutions that enrich and embrace.

Deborah Roig

In the project by Deborah Roig, the kitchen emerges as a functional and welcoming space, where the connection with nature takes center stage. Every detail reflects the essence of biophilic design.

The choice of the Linear collection by Ornare for the furniture brings a refined aesthetic, with delicately crafted metal handles that add sophistication and modernity. The natural color palette harmonizes with the selected materials, while the expansive window frames the outdoor landscape, allowing abundant natural light to flood the space. The contrast between the solid wood table and the textured walls adds layers of depth and warmth to the environment, seamlessly blending rusticity and elegance.

“The intention was to connect the resident with nature, fostering well-being and a sense of belonging and relaxation. In urban and cosmopolitan settings, natural materials and tones like green create this connection, evoking tranquility, health, and quality of life. Natural light is another essential element—not only for its transformative impact on the space but also for its benefits, such as vitamin D production, which is crucial for both mental and physical health.” — Deborah Roig.

Beto Borja

In Beto Borja’s project, biophilic design is expressed through the seamless integration of architecture and the surrounding environment. The structure opens to the landscape through large sliding glass doors, connecting indoor spaces with nature.

The gourmet kitchen, designed for interaction and socializing, incorporates the Linear collection, where design and functionality harmonize. The smooth transition between interior and exterior spaces, combined with the surrounding landscaping, enhances the sense of well-being.

“In this project, we worked with natural veneers, a fundamental detail. Being surrounded by vegetation and incorporating materials that reflect this natural aesthetic elevates the spatial experience, making it more sensory and authentic.” — Beto Borja.
